Florida
Flight 1 is the Emergency Air-Medical Transport Service of Florida
Hospital Medical Center, located in Orlando, Florida.
Florida Flight
1 is responsible for the safe, rapid transport of critically
ill patients, providing quality emergency intervention while enroute
to a facility where definitive care will be administered. The professional
flight teams of Florida Flight 1 will extend the Christian
philosophy and services of Florida Hospital Orlando into referring
facilities and communities by example and by expanding their knowledge
base through education of the latest concepts and technology in
health care.
Currently
Florida Flight 1 flies the American Eurocopter EC-135 twin
jet turbine helicopter. This German made helicopter represents one
of the latest designs in air-medical transport helicopters in the
United States. The EC-135 offers a climate controlled, , rapid transport
system that combines mobility and speed as well as enough cabin
space for the medical crew to function in any in-flight medical
emergency.
Unlike a ground
ambulance, Florida Flight 1 is set up similar to a mobile
intensive care unit and is staffed with only the highest qualified
Critical Care Registered Nurses and Respiratory Therapists. Their
only goal is to insure you, or your loved one, a speedy and safe
transport to Florida Hospital Medical Center or any of the other
hospitals in the Florida Hospital system. Some of the advanced technologies
used by the flight team are: cardiac monitoring, emergency medication
administration and oxygen support.
